This work is medicine. Medicine for the soul. Treatment for the suffering that arises when faith is weak, our wisdom faltering, our insight dim and unclear. Like all medicine it must be taken on a regular basis, at the proper dosage and frequently enough to be effective.
If we break our leg we wouldn't dream of simply reading a book about broken legs. Nor would we expect much relief if we attend a workshop on "The Secret Behind Broken Legs." Instead, we would undertake the proper treatment and the necessary physical therapy to address the broken bone and do everything we can to promote healing. Our inner lives are exactly the same. There are no books to read, no miracle cures. No magical answers, or "Big Time Changes." No "once-and-for-all" magic potions, no cookie cutter answers that once discovered changes everything.
The medicine we need when seeking integration, inner change, growth or inner healing is more like learning a foreign language than learning to ride a bicycle. It requires regular practice and daily usage if we are to benefit from its guidance and grace. Becoming fluent in our uniquely personal language of inner truth is essential if we are to develop a direct and intimate relationship with the innate awareness within us. This is the way that heals.
